About Our Tea
Your teas are described as high-grade — what does this mean?
When we describe our teas as high-grade, we’re referring to the recognised grading systems used at origin and the quality of the leaves selected.
Our black tea is graded FBOPF Ex SP 1, a premium Ceylon classification that indicates carefully selected leaves with a high proportion of tips, known for producing a delicate, complex flavour.
Our green tea is Sencha grade, made from whole leaves that are gently processed to preserve freshness, clarity, and the natural character of the tea.
All tea naturally contains antioxidants. High-grade tea focuses on leaf quality and careful handling, which helps preserve these naturally occurring compounds prior to preparation.
What is Ceylon tea?
Both our black and green teas are Ceylon tea, which is tea grown in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka is known for its diverse growing regions, altitude, and climate, all of which influence the character of the tea. Ceylon tea is valued for its consistency, clarity of flavour, and long-standing reputation for quality.
Is there a recommended way to prepare your tea?
Yes. How tea is prepared can influence both flavour and how naturally occurring compounds are released from the leaves. We provide recommended brewing guidelines for each tea on the packaging, including water temperature and steeping time, to help create a balanced and enjoyable cup.
Black tea optimal preparation see here.
Green tea optimal preparation see here.
How much tea should I use per cup?
We recommend using approximately one heaped teaspoon of tea per cup. This provides a balanced flavour and allows the leaves to open fully during brewing.
For consistency and ease, we also offer a stainless steel tea scoop designed to measure out one serving.
What wellbeing benefits does your tea offer?
Our tea has been created to become a part of a balanced lifestyle and a mindful daily ritual that supports overall wellbeing.
Does your tea contain caffeine?
Yes. Both our black and green tea naturally contain caffeine, as it occurs naturally in the tea leaf. The exact caffeine level can vary depending on the batch and how it is brewed.
Is your tea suitable during pregnancy?
Pregnancy needs can vary from person to person. If you have any questions about caffeine intake during pregnancy, a healthcare professional can provide personalised guidance.
How do I store my tea?
Our tea is packaged in bags designed to help preserve freshness and retain quality, so it can be kept in its original packaging between uses. To maintain the best experience, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat, and strong odours.
If you prefer to decant your tea, a dark glass or metal airtight tea canister is also suitable.
What does it mean to be Eco Label certified?
Eco Label certification means that the tea has been produced in line with recognised environmental standards that focus on responsible practices, including how the tea is grown, processed, and managed. It reflects a commitment to reducing environmental impact and supporting more sustainable methods within the tea industry.
